Hi, what is it like to be a student at Base?
Being a student at Base is really nice experience. The colleagues at work are all very polite, approachable and kind. Everybody does their job well and we all help each other. I'm not feeling any kind of pressure, it is up to me to learn about the things that are interesting to me. It was important for everyone in the company that I am doing something that I enjoy and I am grateful for that.
That is the main reason why I love this job.
How were you received by your older colleagues?
I was very well received by my older colleagues. Everybody is very friendly, sociable and decent. They are all ready to help if needed and they are all patient with me in my learning process.
How much did the faculty prepare you for what awaited you in practice?
The faculty didn't prepare me quite well, which I actually expected. On the faculty we were merely focusing on theory, and the coding that we were learning wasn't like the one that's being done here. It's easier at work because you do what you have to do to finish a task and you can do it whatever way possible. There are many ways to solve a problem, and sometimes the whole art of it is to find your unique ways of solving it. Also there's a lot of creativity involved in this job which I find very pleasing.
What were your biggest challenges?
My biggest challenge was getting the hang of working. I thought I wasn't good enough, and that I couldn't contribute anything to the firm itself because of my lack of knowledge. But the employees made sure that I have a safe and friendly environment so that made it a whole lot easier.
When you are not in Base or college, how do you spend your free time?
Mostly, I spend my free time with my friends or boyfriend doing activities we enjoy. I often stay at home doing some art work because that is something I enjoy. Also, I help my mother around the house.
Three places you would like to visit?
I would definitely like to visit Bali to take a swim in the beautiful water and to enjoy the nature because it looks like heaven on earth. Next, I would like to visit Singapore to see all those huge, unrealistically beautiful buildings. Lastly, I would like to see the northern lights because they look magical, and the best place to see them is Tromso, Norway.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself graduating college, maybe even on doctorate, and hopefully still working in Base58 or in a company with similar opportunities and benefits.
